Northern Ireland Model Car Club officially opened their purpose built off road RC race track on Saturday 24th April. The good weather insured that they was a good attendance from both drivers and spectators alike, with some visitors travelling from as far as Londonderry ! The Mayor of Ballymena, Councillor Currie MBE, cut the red ribbon, declared the track open and congratulated the NIMCC committee and its members for brining Northern Ireland’s first purpose built astro turf RC track to Ballymena.

Following the first round of heats all those in attendance were treated to a BBQ provided by the club. After the lunch break round’s 2 & 3 of the qualifying heats were completed with some fantastic bumper to bumper racing in both the buggy and truggy class’s. Both buggy and truggy finals once again provided excellent racing and of course some spectacular jumps and crashes were only to add to the excitement!!

NIMCC welcomes all level of drivers. We currently run race class’s for 1/8th scale nitro powered buggy and truggy. If you’ve never tried RC racing before you don’t know what you’re missing. Help and advice is available for the current members who will do their best to ensure that you have a great day. Racing is administered and counted using a computerised lap counting system so you can see your progress as the day goes on.

Please don’t be shy – come along and enjoy the NIMCC experience – you won’t regret it !!!
