A sunny but windy morning greeted the 16 racers at the first round of the 2011 Championship. The format was 4 rounds of 5 minute heats followed by a C, B and A Final. Alan Scroggie picked up where he had finished in the winter championship by picking up pole position in the A final followed by a hard going Jason Shaw and Steven McClements. The C final saw Stefan Wills & Chris Smith leading the field - with both drivers having a trouble free race to bump up into B final. The B final started without one of favouites - Philip Craig having to pull out with a damaged Serpent. Once again Stefan Wills in only his first few months of racing joined Lucie Bencze to take the bump up into the A final. Alan Scoggie led the A final but only for the first lap as a crash coming onto the straight let Jason Shaw & Steven McClements through. The next few laps saw a close battle between the 3 of them but once again Alan Scroggie managed to fight his way into 1st place where he remained for the rest of the race. Second and third was a close battle with Steven leading Jason until the last 2 minutes when a flame out allowed Jason to take the second step of the podium with Steven coming third. Andy Mckibben in probably only his 3rd or 4th race in the Associated buggy came 4th with Lucie 5th and a magnificent 6th for Stefan. Results are available on the Club Results tab.
26/03/2011 Winter Championship Round 7
The final round of the winter series took place this weekend; with only the 1st position in the buggy championship decided there was plenty of racing to be had to decide all the remaining places. At the end of qualifying Alan Scroggie was in first with Steven McClements and Jason Shaw in 2nd and 3rd. After a final full of flameouts Alan Scroggie came home in 1st with Jason Shaw in 2nd and Jason Smyth in 3rd.
After the racing the trophies were given out for the winter series with the positions as follows:
Juniors - 1st Jamie thompson, 2nd Chris Smyth and 3rd Stefan Wills
Buggies - 1st Alan Scroggie and joint 2nd Steven McClements and Jason Shaw

19/03/2011 Winter Championship Round 6
After being cancelled the week before due to bad weather racers were greated by sunny skies for the rerun of round 6, 14 buggies turned out included Andy "found some friends" Mckibben with his new buggy ready to take on the big boys. After 4 rounds of qulifying Steven McClements took what I think is his first buggy pole of the season with Alan Scroggie in 2nd and Jason Shaw in 3rd. Jamie Thompson and Raymond Paul took the bump ups from the C final, while after the closest final of the winter series, Andy Mckibben and Jason Smyth took the bump up positions in the B.
The start of the A final was clean with Steven leading the way and Alan right behind him (regretting setting up Steven's buggy a couple of weeks before) and Luci closely following. Just before the end of the first lap Alan tried a do or die move coming onto the back straight resulting in Steven going into the fence and dropping down the order. Steven pulled back from this and within a few laps was battling with Jason Shaw for second until Jason had to retire leaving the order till the end of the final 1st - Alan Scroggie 2nd - Steven McClements 3rd - Luci "Barcardi Breezer"

27/02/2011 Winter Championship Round 5
Round 5 got off to a warmer start than usual with fairly mild weather with only a short shower at around midday to keep the grip levels down. Just one truggy today so Andy "no mates" Mckibben took top points for the truggy championship. In buggies it was a different story with both Alan Scroggie and Jason Shaw battling for TQ through the 4 rounds of qualifying (being tried out as a possibility for the future), in the end though it was Alan Scroggie who took TQ, keeping his winter championship TQ record.
Luci and Phillip took the bump up positions in the b final. In the A final Alan took an early lead and left Jason and Steven in a close fought battle for 2nd and 3rd. At the end of the 25 minute final the order was Alan Scroggie - 1st, Jason Shaw - 2nd and Steven McClements - 3rd. New updated results can be found on the Results page
09/02/2011 Winter Championship Round 4
Round 4 was the biggest turnout of the winter series so far, with tight racing. In truggies it was Andy McKibben who took the win just infront of Dee and Andy Orr. In buggies it was a large turnout with some visitors from the BADMCC. In the A final Alan Scroggie took the win infront of Barkley Abernethy and Jason Shaw all seperated by just over a lap.
29/01/2011 Winter Championship Round 3
Sun and a cool dry start greated those attending round 3. Roughly 12 turned out but just 1 truggy today but in the words of our chairman, "what a truggy!". Qualifying carried on as in round 2 with Alan Scroggie putting in some strong 10 lap runs (first so far) to TQ closly followed by Steven McClements in 2nd and Jason Shaw in third with his new Alpha powered buggy. In the B final it was Luci and Phillip who made the bump up slots.
In the A final Alan got away clean leaving some carnage behind with Steven dropping down the order a bit. Phillip had stormed through to second for a short while but at about 10mins in he had a run away... shame as he was going really well. Jason Shaw also had problems within the first few laps with a steering turnbuckle coming loose. After the half hour final the top three looked like this:
1st - Alan Scroggie
2nd - Steven McClements
3rd - Jason Shaw
Hopefully we will have the proper AMB lap timing results up on the website in the near future.
15/01/2011 Winter Championship Round 2
A miserable day greated the drivers @ Round 2. No Truggys today but a reasonable buggy turnout. In the B final Lucie and Hugh took 1st and 2nd and in doing so bumped up into the A final. Alan scroggie led the final from pole position and went on to win the race with Steven McClements 2nd and Jason Shaw 3rd having fought his way back from a few issues including a split fuel line.
